This comment from Dust Bunny Queen, reacting to the skinny man trend, is right to the point, isn't it? How will men's apparel sales, which have been healthy, fare once it's obvious that everything is made to fit a 12-year-old body?
Fashion designers are supposed to be trendsetters—tastemakers, rock stars if you will—but there's plenty of evidence that less and less people are following their trends even as the fashion business gets more and more media coverage. Hmm. That's odd, right?
I want to think this through, try to piece it out in some way, but I don't have time right now. Gotta go make myself throw up before lunch.

What older-than-12-year old wishes they were 12 again - bodily or otherwise???
12 was a shitty year for me. I weighed 73 pounds, wore a depressing amount of brown corduroy and velour and considered rollerskating a heck of a way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
God save us all.
Ah-a! I's not just me! I went to but clothes at a mid-scale boutique in the fall--and I was in a shopping mood, lemme tell ya--and for the first time in my life I tried on stuff and had NO IDEA if it looked good or not. Is the neck supposed to hang to my belly button? Are these sleeves supposed to hang a foot below my hands? Bope! So I left with a pair of cords and a vow to wait till next season t shop. Hopefully I can make sense of spring 2008 fashion.
