Saluting an underappreciated advertising genre

The Fall network promo: is it truly "the most gloriously cheesy form of advertising known to man?"

Well, quite possibly yes, although earlier versions can seem straightforward and almost elegant. Just remember: one day, we'll think all the talk of broadcasting in HD is this quaint.

I feel like the loser now. I was just saying how trailers for cable shows are getting better. Ok, it was in reference to this show, but still, you get the point.

Actually I'm a fan of USA network's promos. But you must agree: back in the mid-80s, broadcast networks were "gloriously cheesy." Oh the memories! I'm getting misty-eyed right now.
